Isaac Hoffman graduated with a BA in Classics and Latin from Hofstra University in 2019 and went on to complete his MA and PhD in Classics at Cornell University. He is interested in material ecocriticism, the boundaries between texts and objects, and imperial Greek rhetoric. His dissertation, "Sophistic Floralities: Flowers in Imperial Prose," explores the floral as a metaphor for literary culture in the Greek prose literature of the Roman Imperial period. Isaac is an avid reader of Imperial literature, from Augustan poetry and epistles to the ancient novels and rhetorical treatises, but has a special place in his heart for Greek drama and Hellenistic poetry as well. While at Ó£ÌÒɬ¸£Àû¼§, Isaac will teach adjunct courses in Latin and Greek at all levels.
In his free time, you can find Isaac translating pop songs into Latin and Greek or playing tabletop roleplaying games.
