Social and Community Participation
We are committed to supporting you to participate in your chosen activities, develop the skills you need to increase your independence and participate in your community. We will support you to exercise choice and control in your life so you can achieve your goals and aspirations.
We can offer individualised or group activities, or a combination of services, tailored to meet your needs. An example of the activities we support people with include:
- Attending local community events and interest groups
- Learning life skills such as healthy cooking, money handling, shopping, travel training, computer skills
- Social gatherings at local parks, cafes, restaurants, and clubs
- Participating in leisure, exercise, music, gardening, art and drama classes
- Volunteering or work experience in our enterprises or a work place of your choice
- Supporting you to further your education.
We can provide you and your families with NDIS planning advice, so you can choose the services and supports you need, to achieve a meaningful, productive and independent life.
Our professional and dedicated Support Workers take the time to get to know each individual to ensure we offer holistic and personalised support.
Discovery for Young Adults
ӣɬ offers a tailored approach for school leavers through Discovery, our community support service for young adults. Discovery is designed to deliver individualised programs that support the transition to adult life, while maintaining and building on skills developed at school. We encourage you to maximise your independence and work towards your life and vocational goals. Activities provided can support you to develop the following key areas:
- Continuing education in literacy, numeracy and information technology
- Life skills development, including public transport travel training, cooking, shopping, safety in the community and relationships
- Community participation in activities, hobbies, interests and social experiences
- Exploring work options including work experience and volunteering, or developing work skills
- Developing a strong sense of identity through self-discovery, decision making and taking on responsibilities.
